Following the successful inauguration of the new Ga South Municipal Assembly on the 15th March, 2018, the Assembly has been busy with the setting up of its Departments, Units and other Administration Structures. As part of this, the new Assembly needed to constitute various Sub-committees and their chairmen.

Pivotal to this was the election of a presiding member to steer the affairs of the General Assembly. The Assembly member for Obom Electoral Area, Hon. Abdul Wahab was duly elected with 26 out of 28 available votes. Hon. Wahab in his victory speech reiterated the need for the Assembly Members to come together and support the technical staff to enable the Assembly achieve its set objectives.

Prior to the objectives of the Presiding member, the Hon. Joseph Nyarni Stephen in his welcome address called on Hon. Assembly Members to remain focus on their core duties as representatives of their electoral areas to make the Assembly a Centre of Excellence within the Capital and a model Assembly amongst the newly created Assemblies within the country. During the same meeting, a logo which has been developed for the new Assembly was ratified by the General Assembly. The logo has a canoe and a farming background signifying the predominant occupation of its indigenes. It also has a stool signifying traditional authority and a sign that the Assembly is well seated and has come to stay.
