The people of the Tsokome–Bortianor fishing community in the Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency have witnessed the fulfillment of a long-awaited campaign promise. The Government of Ghana, led by His Excellency the President, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for Ngleshie Amanfro and the Ga South Municipal Assembly, has successfully completed the dredging of the Tsokome Mini Harbor.
For years, the fishermen and women of Tsokome faced serious challenges due to silted waters and restricted access, which disrupted fishing activities, affected livelihoods, and slowed the economic growth of the community. Recognizing this pressing need, the President MCE, and the MP made a firm commitment to ensure that the mini harbor would be dredged to restore its functionality and boost local economic activities.
Today, that promise has become a reality. The dredging exercise has not only improved navigation for fishing vessels but has also created a safer and more efficient working environment for fisherfolk. This intervention is expected to increase fish landings, enhance trade, and provide new employment opportunities, thereby contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the area.
The fulfillment of this promise is a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to improving the lives of coastal communities and promoting sustainable fishing practices. It also reflects the MP’s continuous advocacy and dedication to bringing development projects closer to the people of Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro.
The people of Tsokome have expressed their profound appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Akwetey Okle, and Hon. Moses Kabu Kubi Ocansey for keeping their word and prioritizing the needs of the fishing community. The dredged mini harbor stands as a lasting testament to responsive leadership and the fulfillment of campaign
