Security agencies in the Ga South Municipality have intensified patrols and public education to ensure safety before, during, and after the Christmas festivities.
Briefing the General Assembly, officials said the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Immigration Service are working closely to enhance security across the municipality. Patrols will be intensified around malls, beaches, markets, and other strategic locations to monitor activities and gather intelligence.

An Amanfro Crime Officer noted that while the district is generally calm, the festive season often comes with security challenges. He disclosed that a meeting with the Divisional Commander had resulted in clear deployment instructions for officers to ensure public safety.
The officer, however, expressed concern over logistics, revealing that the district’s only patrol vehicle has broken down, affecting operations. Despite this challenge, police officers will still be deployed to churches, markets, and key public spaces. He also called for stronger collaboration with Assembly Members to ensure a peaceful festive season.

As part of preparations towards Christmas, officers are conducting educational outreach programmes to sensitize the youth on the dangers of alcohol abuse and irresponsible behaviour. Parents and guardians were advised to ensure that schoolchildren remain at home at night during the vacation period.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) announced that it will be fully on the ground from December 24 to January 2 to support safety efforts. NADMO officers will patrol beaches and distribute life jackets to fishermen and other beach users.

According to the organisation, visits are also being made to drinking spots along the beaches to educate patrons on the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption. Beach users have been advised to leave the beaches by 6:00p.m. daily, with defaulters risking arrest by the appropriate authorities.
The measures, officials said, are aimed at preventing accidents, protecting lives, and maintaining peace throughout the festive period.
