The Ga South Municipal Assembly organized a Town Hall meeting on 26th November, 2019 at Ngleshie Amanfro Pentecost Church to interact with the citizenry and also educate them on the impending referendum scheduled for 17th December, 2019.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Nyarni Stephen in his address highlighted on the achievements of the Assembly after barely two (2) years of its creation. “The Assembly has completed a lot of projects which captures all facets of Municipal Development in the area of Health, Security, Education, Sanitation, and Roads", he stated.
He ended his address by urging everybody to turn up in their numbers during the December 17th referendum and take a decision that will positively impact the development and future of the assembly.
The Director of the Institute of Local Government Studies, Dr. Nicholas Awortwi in his presentation educated the citizenry on the referendum which seeks to change an entrenched clause in the constitution which prevents political parties from supporting candidates to contest in MMDCE elections.
He weighed the pros and cons of voting Yes and No and at the end urged the august house to vote Yes in the upcoming referendum for the local level to be autonomous, motivated and innovative.
